St. Vincent Ferrer

Vincent was a Dominican monk, one of the most prominent preachers of penance of the 15th century. He was born in Valencia and lived during the years of 1350-1419. He was canonized in 1458. As a preacher, he traveled across France, Lombardy and today’s French part of Switzerland, converted pagans and Jews, exorcised, brought the dead back to life and healed the ill. He allegedly performed 800 documented miracles. Nowadays, Vincent is mainly worshipped in Spain, Germany, Southern France and Styria. He is a protector of Valencia and Vannes and a patron of roofers, brick-makers, fellers and lead-founders. In Brittany, he is a protector of horses. People also pray to him to protect them against all kinds of illnesses.
